Wengen,
Switzerland Stephan Eberharter won his second downhill race in a row
Friday to reclaim the lead in the World Cup overall standings.
Eberharter charged down the long and arduous Lauberhorn course in 2
minutes, 27.78 seconds. American Daron Rahlves climbed the podium
for the fourth time this season, finishing runnerup in 2:28.89.
Rahlves, who won a downhill in Bormio in December, also placed third
in downhills in Beaver Creek and Bormio last week.
Switzerland's Bruno Kernen was third in 2:29.16, climbing the podium
for the first time since placing second in a combined event in
Veysonnaz five years ago. Austrian ski star Hermann Maier, racing
his first downhill since almost losing a leg in August 2001,
finished back in the 20s.
Bode Miller finished sixth in 2:29,36, urrendering the overall lead
to Eberharter. |
