VIGILIO DI MAREBBE, Italy (AP) _ Swiss snowboarders extended
their dominance in parallel giant slalom Saturday as Philipp
Schoch and Ursula Bruhin each won World Cup races. Schoch's
second win of the season moved the Olympic champion into second
place in the standings after three events behind compatriot Urs
Eiselin, who came in fifth after a quarterfinal loss. Heinz
Inniger, who eliminated Eiselin, came in second, losing the
final's first run by five-hundredths of a second and the second
run by four seconds. Rounding out an all-Swiss podium, Roland
Haldi finished third. In the women's event at the Kronplatz
resort in northeastern Italy, Bruhin's victory vaulted her ahead
of second-place finisher and compatriot Daniela Meuli into the
top spot in the standings. Julie Pomagalski of France came in
third. |
